Rose Black Prince - description of the variety

Roses are considered to be royal flowers. People prefer them due to the luxurious aroma and beauty of the bud with exquisite shapes and colors. Many colors and varieties allow you to use roses in creating installations, decorating a room interior or for decorating a festive bouquet.

The history of the appearance of the Black Prince rose variety

For the first time, tea varieties of black roses were grown in Turkey. The black color gave them the composition of the soil. As a result of crossing with local varieties of dark roses, the color turned out to be almost black. In 1870, a French breeding company began breeding different varieties of dark roses: Black Madonna, Delbar, Black Prince.

Black Prince

General characteristics of the Black Prince. Description of the rose and application in landscape design

The plant at its peak is capable of growing up to one and a half meters in height. The thorns on the stem are densely packed, the foliage is dark green in color. On one bud, from 1 to 4 inflorescences can appear. The bud has a dense core of 40-50 petals. Freshly ripe buds are almost black, but as they open, a burgundy hue appears. Varietal rose Black Prince has a number of positive qualities:

  • the color of the bud matches the name;
  • perfectly tolerates severe frosts;
  • has a pronounced aroma;
  • flowering lasts throughout the summer.

Along with the positive aspects, there are also obvious disadvantages:

  • in winter, in areas where the temperature drops below -15 degrees, it becomes necessary to cover the bushes;
  • the variety is susceptible to disease;
  • due to the fact that the stem and the bud are connected by a thin pedicel, the inflorescences cannot be used in the decoration of the yard area and landscape design.

Note! The Black Prince variety is not intended for landscape decoration. However, experts take risks and, despite the thin peduncle of the plant, combine it with bush when planting.

Rules for planting roses in open ground

Rose Black Prince will give abundant flowering only with proper planting and choice of location. The plant can be bred using both seeds and cuttings. The easiest and most effective way is to plant shoots or seedlings. The best time for planting and breeding is the beginning of autumn. Although there are experts who believe that the shoots planted before April are in no way inferior to the autumn "brothers". Roses are thermophilic flowers, which is why, when choosing a location, you should give preference to fairly bright places without drafts. It should be borne in mind that the Black Prince does not tolerate direct sunlight.

Inflorescences

Before planting, you need to prepare the soil:

  • thoroughly loosen the ground;
  • treat weeds;
  • enrich with minerals and fertilize with humus if the soil is not fertile.

Important! Before planting the cutting in the ground, it must be pretreated. To do this, the prepared shoot must be immersed in a special stimulant that promotes root growth. Exposure time: one day.

Tea black rose care

The hybrid flower is considered capricious and quite demanding to care for. It is imperative to follow the following recommendations regarding the care of a novelty among roses:

  • correct organization of watering. It should not be frequent, but abundant. After watering, you need to intensively loosen the soil.The frequency of watering the bushes should be 1 every 6 days;
  • the beauty of the bush and the quality of the buds largely depend on the preparation of the soil. The plant will curl upwards if the soil is well fertilized with a solution of ammonium nitrate. Flowers love light, fluffy ground. If the land does not meet these requirements, then you can use a ready-made earthen mixture for planting;
  • trimming the stems is necessary to prevent the growth of wild shoots. It is necessary to prune the plant in the spring;
  • after the plant fades and the temperature drops below 5 degrees, you need to take care of preparing the bushes for wintering. The bush must be cut off, all the leaves removed, a frame body must be built and a covering material must be put on it.

Blossom of the Black Prince

The buds of hybrid tea roses of the climbing group begin to open in early summer and continue to bloom until the first cold weather. However, many are faced with the problem of lack of flowering in climbing groups of roses. This may be due to the following reasons:

  • a young bush of the first year may not bloom;
  • wrong landing site;
  • poor pruning or maintenance;
  • the presence of diseases or root rot;

Important! During flowering, it is necessary to prune the bush, cutting off the faded buds at an angle of 45 degrees.

Reproduction

There are two ways to plant roses:

  • share the bush. To do this, you need to dig it out, remove the shoots, cut the roots, treat it with a special solution and plant it carefully;
  • propagation by cuttings. To do this, you need to cut off the stem, which has at least 4 buds, soak it in the solution for a day, and then plant and cover.

Diseases of bush roses

The plant is often attacked by various pests and diseases:

  • powdery mildew;
  • sunburn and rust;
  • spider mite;
  • aphid;
  • click beetle.

Thus, Black Prince roses are popular due to their unique color. They are used to create bouquets, installations. Plants of this variety require maximum care both during flowering and during dormancy.
