Succinic acid for orchids: examples of divorce and application

Excellent well-being and proper development of plants is facilitated not only by regular care, but also by timely feeding. Many do not even realize that funds for these purposes can be purchased at a regular pharmacy. Florists have long been using a safe and effective preparation - succinic acid, suitable for any flowers, including orchids.

Forms of issue

Succinic acid is a chemical compound containing hydrogen, oxygen and carbon atoms. Its chemical name is butanedioic acid. Produced by the industry in the form of:

  1. Tablets;
  2. Powder sachets;
  3. Small crystals of pure substance.

Succinic acid tablets

In the first two cases, the drug is presented in pharmacies, its direct purpose is to be used as a medicine for humans, therefore, the pure substance is mixed with various additives: talc, glucose, etc. Crystals of pure acid are purchased at specialized points of goods for the garden and flowers. where they are presented as fertilizers.

Important! Crystals of pure succinic acid are the best option for orchids, since additional impurities can slightly reduce the effectiveness of the drug.

Consequences of using succinic acid

Phalaenopsis orchid is one of the varieties of houseplant most loved by florists for a long flowering period. However, this is a delicate and capricious exotic flower, the cultivation of which requires patience and caring attention. Often, due to illiterate care, the plant begins to wilt, it can be saved if the necessary measures are quickly taken.

Succinic acid for orchids is simply a necessary fertilizer, although florists have learned to use other cheap and effective means, for example, hydrogen peroxide, which saturates the soil with oxygen and stimulates the immunity of orchids; pest-fighting garlic; aspirin, which creates an acidic environment favorable for Phalaenopsis. For each of these drugs, there are separate rates of use.

Benefits of using butanedioic acid:

  1. Normalization of soil microflora. The drug balances the functioning of beneficial microorganisms, restoring the microflora;
  2. Destruction of toxins. Butanedioic acid destroys toxic substances accumulating over time;
  3. Growth stimulating. After the introduction of fertilizer, nutrients from the soil are better absorbed by the root system. The orchid grows faster;
  4. Improved adaptation. Accelerates plant regeneration after diseases, transplantation and other stressful situations. Helps newly acquired individuals quickly adapt to a new environment;
  5. Increased chlorophyll content. When chlorophyll is produced in sufficient quantities, plants will flower, grow, and look healthier;
  6. Acceleration of root formation. Indispensable for reproduction, transplantation and resuscitation of plants with damaged roots;
  7. Increased stability. Orchids that receive optimal doses of succinic acid tolerate drought, excessive watering, and freezing better.

Attention! It is practically impossible to cause harm to plants when treated with succinic acid.

Possible disadvantages of its use:

  1. From excessive use of the drug, soil acidification is likely;
  2. To achieve a stable and visible result, you need to show patience, you should not wait for an instant miracle.

Important! Butanedioic acid is non-toxic, but the concentrated solution causes irritation, mild burns to the mucous membranes.

When working with the drug, you must:

  • use safety glasses and latex gloves;
  • keep the product away from the reach of children and pets.

Requirements

When cultivating orchids, butanedioic acid is not used exclusively as a growth and flowering stimulant. Plants need regeneration periodically. The best effect is obtained by using the drug at the right time and in the correct dosage.

Important! Treatment with the drug can be carried out several times. In the solution, you can soak the planting material, spray the ground part, avoiding contact with the flowers, directly water the plant in the ground.

Required dosage

There are specific dosages and rules for each method. Since the use of the drug is possible only in a liquid state, a solution of butanedioic acid is obtained in certain proportions before use. A similar method is valid for powders and crystals, but there is no difference in how to use succinic acid for orchids in tablets. Initially, the tablets are crushed into powder, then dissolved in plain water.

Divorce options for pills

The table shows that the solutions are used for each case at a certain concentration. Prepare the desired liquid by obtaining a basic solution, then dilute it to the desired consistency by pouring in water.

Solution preparation scheme:

  1. Heat water and pour it on the bottom of a liter jar;
  2. Dilute succinic acid in this water;
  3. Pour water at room temperature to the top.

For example, you need to prepare a solution with a concentration of 0.1%. To obtain it, dissolve 1 g of powder or 10 tablets of 100 mg in 1 liter of water. Water is added to reduce the concentration. So, a 0.01% solution is obtained by mixing 100 ml of solution and 900 ml of liquid.

Important! The finished product is stored for 2-3 days. Then, according to florists, it loses its properties. In this case, it is necessary to observe the storage conditions: in a glass container, covered with a lid, in a dark place, protected from high-temperature exposure to ambient air.

A relatively rare form of butanedioic acid release is in liquid form. This is Amber VRK. It is important to know how to breed Yantarin VRK for orchids. Its concentration corresponds to 5 g of pure substance per liter of water. To feed orchids, you should dissolve 30 ml of the product in 10 liters of water. Then the roots are watered with the resulting liquid in the spring, when the plant enters the growing season.

Correct use of acid

In winter, florists do not recommend using succinic acid for feeding orchids, but if necessary, you can treat the plants with solutions of reduced concentration (2-3 times). At the same time, they use only spraying, without direct watering, the frequency of treatment is 1 time per month.

How to properly wipe the leaves

For tropical flowers, handling the leaves is just as important as taking care of the roots.

A pronounced effect can be achieved if clear rules are followed:

  1. Use sparing improvised means to transfer the drug to the leaves in order to exclude the possibility of traumatic actions;
  2. Make sure that a soft cloth or a piece of cotton wool is sufficiently moistened with the solution;
  3. Wipe on both sides of the sheet;
  4. Perform the procedure in the morning or evening, avoiding daytime hours;
  5. After processing, the leaves should remain visibly moist.

Important! Frequency of rubbing orchid leaves - weekly, once or twice.

Orchid feeding options

The choice of the method of use depends on the achievement of the desired effect, the state of the plants. Florists treat orchids in the following popular ways:

  1. Spraying from a shallow sprayer;
  2. Rubbing the leaves, as a kind of spray solution, but at the same time a more complete coverage of the plant with a fertilizing liquid is achieved;
  3. Watering the roots of a plant in the ground;
  4. Soaking the roots in a solution of the drug for a while.

    Spraying orchid

The most common method of feeding healthy, weakened and diseased plants is by spraying. The standard dose for foliar application is 0.01% solution. For individuals in serious condition, the concentration may increase. Healthy plants are sprayed every 2-3 weeks. For individuals requiring resuscitation, the procedure is performed daily, sometimes up to 3-4 times a day.

Important! During the procedure, the plant is transferred to the shade during the day. Do not spray on flowers.

Soaking in a solution is required for orchids with a damaged root system, it is also used for transplantation. The plant is immersed in the fertilizing liquid directly in the flower container, when transplanted, it is stored from 10 minutes to half an hour in solution, then planted in the ground.

Important! At the end of the procedure, it is necessary that the liquid flows out through special holes located in the bottom of the flower container.

Watering orchids with a solution of butanedioic acid is recommended for the treatment and prevention of diseases. Even in the case of a slightly overdose, this will not harm the plant. Part of the "medicine" will be absorbed by the plant, the excess amount is quickly processed by soil microorganisms. The usual concentration used is 100 mg or 1 tablet per liter container. Watering gives the following results:

  • soil microflora is restored;
  • toxic substances, salts of heavy metals are removed;
  • prevention of fungal diseases occurs;
  • the damaged root system is restored.

Important! The liquid accumulating in the pan after watering must be removed in a timely manner so as not to overmoisten the roots.

Using succinic acid, it is also likely to revive an orchid whose roots have rotted as a result of waterlogging of the soil. Procedure:

  1. Get rid of rotten roots, grease the remaining points of their attachment with brilliant green and dry.
  2. In a previously prepared solution (4 tablets per 1 liter), immerse the plant in the place where the roots were. Soak from 20 minutes to half an hour.
  3. Repeat daily for 3 months. When the roots grow back, plant in the ground.

Important! At the time when the procedure is not performed, it is advisable to place the plant near a humid environment, but not immerse it in water.

Capricious tropical flowers respond positively to butanedioic acid feeding. The product strengthens the substrate, effectively supports photosynthesis, and stimulates the production of young cells. It is an essential "medicine" for weak, damaged and dying individuals. The whole plant is sprayed with a fertilizer solution, except for flowers. After transplanting, the roots are kept in it for a short time in order to slow down the manifestations of stress.

Orchid resuscitation

In the case of frequent processing, florists advise to prepare a weak solution: add 1 g of crystalline powder to 5 liters of liquid. Spray once every 3 weeks, irrigate the soil with the remnants of the fertilizer made. If you systematically use butanedioic acid, orchids almost do not get sick, they constantly bloom.

The most acceptable form of succinic acid release for indoor flowers is tablets. Typically, each tablet contains 0.1 g of acid, which helps to prepare the solution in the required volumes. However, regardless of the form in which the drug is purchased, it will serve as a good fertilizer for indoor flowers.
